How The Advisory Group Uses AI And Protects Your Information

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly changing the way we work. At The Advisory Group, we know it is important to use these tools thoughtfully while maintaining the personal judgment and responsibility our clients expect from us.

Our Approach to AI

We use AI very selectively to improve efficiency and enhance certain aspects of our work. Appropriate uses may include drafting routine communications and documents, proofreading, preliminary research, and transcribing and analyzing meeting notes, using only approved private tools whose providers are prohibited from using our data to train their AI models.

Any AI-generated material must be reviewed by our team for accuracy, appropriateness, potential bias, intellectual-property concerns, and compliance before it is used. We do not use AI to generate investment recommendations. We vet AI tools to ensure that they meet our privacy and security standards and then maintain an approved list of AI tools.

Just as importantly, our policies prohibit entering client or company confidential information into public AI platforms.

Protecting Your Information

Cybersecurity is a fundamental part of our responsibility to our clients. We maintain policies and procedures designed to protect the privacy, integrity, and security of your personal and financial information.

Our safeguards include controlled access to client information, password and authentication requirements, firewalls, encryption where appropriate, continuously running antivirus and anti-malware protection, secure remote access, and regular assessments of our technology environment. We also conduct due diligence on third-party service providers that have access to client information and periodically review their security practices.

We recognize that cybersecurity threats continually evolve. Our policies call for ongoing risk assessments, vulnerability testing, monitoring, and a formal process for responding to and investigating security incidents.

How You Can Help Protect Your Information

  • Never share your login credentials for any Advisory Group portal or for Schwab.
  • Enroll in Schwab account alerts so that you receive notifications about transfer activity and other important account events.
  • Review your account activity regularly and promptly report anything unexpected.
  • Protect your personal information, and watch for phishing attempts designed to steal credentials or sensitive data.

Our primary custodian, Charles Schwab, provides a Schwab Security Guarantee to protect clients against losses due to unauthorized activity, but this is void in the case of shared passwords.

Looking Ahead

This is a fast-moving environment. We and our technology partners take seriously our commitment to safeguard your information and protect the trust you have placed in us. While we are excited to use the new tools available to us, we remain vigilant about the protection of our data.
