Tanya Rapacz is a Senior Advisor for the Personal Wealth Group at The Advisory Group. She has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional since 2000. In the past she has worked for financial education companies, as well as in several positions as a financial advisor. She also spent time as a mediator and consultant to business partners. She is especially interested in topics related to women, the sandwich generation, and planning for a retirement that is successful and fulfilling.

My first job out of college was creating exhibits for an expert witness in cases between stockbrokers and their customers. It was a real crash course in analyzing activity in brokerage accounts, and the consequences of unchecked conflicts of interest in giving investment advice. It had an impact on what kind of advisor I would aspire to be. It inspired me to learn as much as I could about partnering with clients to make a plan for the long term and stick to it.
Go hiking or get outside with my family. We like state and national parks, especially Acadia National Park. We have been there every year for the past 20 years. I also like my Peloton, reading, and birding.
Currently I serve on the boards of two charitable organizations. This Point Forward is a 501c3 that serves the 50+ community in the county where I live, Howard County, MD. We help people find meaning and purpose in their “third act.” This can include pursuing new volunteer activities or exploring new career passions. We also have an online book club to learn more about topics related to finding your passion or healthy aging.

I also sit on the board of the Baltimore Wellesley Club. We put on events to connect the community of prospective and current students with the alumnae in the area. I also chair the Book Club, which is a lot of fun. We have hosted Author Events and met up to sample the cuisine to mirror the locales of the books we are reading.

I am usually reading more than one book at a time. I like to go back and forth between fiction and nonfiction. My favorite authors are Barbara Kingsolver, Emily St. John Mandel, and Jane Austen.
