Financial services, and more specifically, retirement plans, is an area where I can truly make a positive difference in the financial lives of others. Whether that comes through providing education on the benefits of saving in a company-sponsored 401(k) plan or even helping someone to budget more effectively, there’s a real opportunity to have a meaningful and lasting impact.

Over the course of the past decade, I’ve become quite the travel buff. My wife and I, and now our daughter, make a conscious effort to visit at least one international destination per year. Some of our most memorable international trips as a couple have included trekking through Chilean Patagonia and hiking Machu Picchu, driving around the Irish countryside, touring around Israel, eating our way through Thailand and Japan, and becoming engaged while in Santorini, Greece. With our daughter, we’ve recently visited Bali, Costa Rica, Portugal, France, and most recently, returned to Greece.

We would like to make it back to South America sometime soon, with a desire to visit both Colombia and Bolivia.

I was born in New York City, and for most of my childhood years, was raised in Bergen County, NJ, which is about 30 minutes outside of Manhattan. It was a great place to grow up and I still maintain many of my childhood friendships today.

My family follows a primarily plant-based diet, and since we live close to an abundance of fresh produce and ingredients, we often like to prepare our own meals.

When eating out, I’ve come to enjoy some of the more renowned local vegan institutions like The Butcher’s Son (Berkeley, deli), Souley Vegan (Oakland, soul food and barbecue), BAIA (San Francisco, Italian) and Shizen Izakaya (San Francisco, Japanese).

For a non-vegan meal, you can find me at La Corneta (San Francisco, Mexican), Molinari Delicatessen (San Francisco, Italian deli), Mazra (San Bruno, Mediterranean), or San Tung (Chinese).

Whenever possible, I enjoy participating in various financial literacy and wellness initiatives geared at providing education to elementary, middle, and high school students. I’ve volunteered through Junior Achievement of Northern California and National Foundation for Teaching & Entrepreneurship.

My wife and I are also semi-active in our daughter’s cooperative pre-school, where she serves on the board.
